"Ali" Evans
What a fantastic site you have! I thought I would send in a picture from the UK. Ali is really a lurcher (hope he still qualifies!) but everyone calls him a greyhound. We got him six months ago from National Canine Defense League near Birmingham. No one knows how he got there, why, or how old he is. The vets say ‘about 6’ after looking at his teeth. He is our first dog, and an absolute joy to own. I had never considered greyhounds when we started to look, but fell for Ali the first time I saw him. Sarah was not so keen and we decided that we would come and look again.
A month later we returned to NCDL, and happily (for us) Ali was still a resident. Sarah was not keen on any other dogs, and I persuaded her to have Ali out again. Within a minute her heart was set on him. We found out that previous to our other visit he had only arrived at the kennel several days before, and been chipped and castrated the day before we saw him. No wonder he was a bit subdued! We booked him on the spot, and then had to wait a week. Thinking of him alone in his kennel was heartbreaking.
He’s settled with us well, and is still gaining confidence after 6 months. He loves nothing better than to flop on someone on the settee. Anyone is fair game, guest or not! Here he is, cutting a dash on a very cold morning, enjoying the spring sun, and getting a hug from Sarah.
