"Sally" Greer

Here is my greyhound....Sally. Sally is 8 years old now, and came to me through a wonderful lady named Dee Hanson who lives in north Georgia. Dee and her husband have devoted many hours flying to the tracks and rescuing these wonderful dogs when their Racing Owners decide that they are not worth keeping. Sally was retired at an early age....1 1/2 years......she is small for a greyhound which kept her from winning and caused the early retirement for her.
Every greyhound adoption has its interesting story. Mine began with her adoption, and an assistant who worked for Dee at the time. The assistant informed me that this greyhound's racing name was "Sally Forth" and had raced in South Florida. I, of course, took this opportunity to name her "Sally" and she began to (after a time) recognize her name and would come when called "Sally". A couple of years after the adoption, I found that a call to the Greyhound Registry, along with the tatoo number in her ear would provide her history. I was very surprised when I called and they told me her name was "Westar Abby". When I corrected them, they looked up Sally Forth and found out that Sally had died in 1987. So, I definitely had "Westar Abby", the female that was "white with big black spots". Who knows why I was told her name was Sally, but at that point, I wasn't about to change it. So! , here is my Sally (aka......Westar Abby).....who has become quite a "couch potato" as you can see.
